Here’s Your Sit n Go Strategy

1

It’s important to manage your sit n go strategy as the dynamics of the game changes. SNG games aren’t like traditional multi-table games. There is usually one table involved and the table can go from full to short handed quickly. It’s for that reason you should follow these sit n go strategy tips:

·        Changes to your flop strategyNormally if you’re holding cards like AK, AQ, or AJ pre-flop, and they don’t hit, you fold. But when you’re playing short-handed, after player leave the table, there’s a good chance your opponents didn’t do any better post flop than you did. You should stick around for another card if there’s a check, or even bet if you want to try to bully weaker hands out early.

·        Adjust your betting sit n go strategyYou can often win a hand betting cards that you would have folded with if you were playing a traditional tournament. If you’re good at reading online poker player’s “tells”, you could conceivably claim the pot with a Ace high if you do it right. And pocket pairs, even low ones, often rule.

·        Watch out for hidden blind increasesEarly in the game you get to play more hands between the times you have to post the small or big blind. But as the number of players decrease, that button moves around to your position a lot faster. And while the amount you have to contribute doesn’t change, the frequency in which you make those contributions does. This means you have to play a lot tighter when the table size gets shorter.

·        Reading online poker tells

Watch how long it takes your opponents to call, check, bet, and raise. If they make their move instantly, it tells you that they are using the auto play feature. Auto played raises means that particular player is either proud of their hand, or they’re bluffing. Auto checks can mean a weak hand. However, if the player takes a long time to make their move, you know that they are having a hard time deciding how to play the hand. This could mean that it’s weak or it’s strong. You’ll have to combine that knowledge with other tells in order to make a decision.
