A Summary of Online Poker Games
The four online poker games most often played are limit Texas hold em, no limit Texas hold em, High/Low Omaha and High Omaha. You probably already know about the hold em online poker games. Here’s how Omaha is played:
High Omaha Poker
Hi Omaha looks a lot like hold em with these differences:
· After the blinds, players get 4 hole cards pre-flop. A round of betting occurs. The first player to the left of the big blind puts in $2 to call the blind bet or $4 to raise.
· Three cards are flipped up for the flop and another round of betting occurs. The minimum allowed bet is $3.
· One card is then flipped face up for the turn followed by another round of betting.
· Next comes the river where another card is flipped face up. The minimum bet for this round is $6.
· Finally comes the showdown where the players make their best hand using only two of their hole cards and three community cards.
Omaha High Low
This is an online poker games where the highest and lowest hand split the pot, but it doesn’t always work that way. Cards are dealt the same as in High Omaha. The difference is the betting and how the winner is determined.
· A low hand requires no card used to make your hand is higher than 8.
· Calculating the low hand
An ace can be high or low. If you are going low, straights or flushes don’t count. The lowest hand is A 2 3 4 5. If two players both have the lowest hand, they split the low portion of the pot.
· Declaring High and Low
If you are able to pull a hand that is both high and low, and you have the highest and lowest hand at the showdown, you have “scooped the pot.” The other way to scoop the pot is to have the high hand and no one else can make a low hand.
Getting “Counterfeited”
If you have an ace and a 2 hole cards, and there’s another ace and deuce on the board, your hand is counterfeit if there aren’t four low cards available to make your low hand. This is one of the worst things that can happen when you are playing High Low Omaha online poker games.
