Beginner Online Poker Tips

0

If you’re new at playing poker online, you can avoid these common beginner’s mistakes by following these online poker tips:

·        Don’t play too many hands. Remember this: The goal is to win as many pots as possible, not play as many hands as you can. Fold when you have bad cards and save your money for the next hand.

·        Establish your game bankroll and quit for the day if you lose it. Otherwise you could end up playing with money you need for your rent, mortgage, car payment or food.

·        Bury your emotions. You’re going to lose some hands to bad luck, and you’re going to meet some annoying opponents. One of the best online poker tips is this: Check your emotions at the door so you can think clearly and focus on your game.

·        Don’t ignore pot odds! Whether you understand pot odds or not, they are going to be working for or against you, so you should know what they are and how to use them to your advantage.

·        Use a 4-color deck when available. Nothing says you have to play in red and black. If your online poker software supports 4 colors, use it. That’s because the time will come when you will misread your hand and think you have a flush when you do not. That can’t happen when you use 4 colors because each suit has their own unique hue.

·        Avoid sounding like a newbie. Everyone is new at some point, but you can speed up the game, and keep people from thinking you’re a total newbie, if you follow poker table etiquette.  For example; don’t say “I call your $10 bet and I raise you $5.” The correct thing is to simply say “I raise you $5,” and then add $15 to the pot to cover your call and raise.

·        Just be yourself. So many new players try to imitate the playing styles of their TV poker heroes or other players they’ve seen online. Here is something to add to you online poker tips file: Another player’s style is likely the result of years of playing online poker. It works for them because it IS them. Develop your own style and you’ll do much better.

Hopefully you will become a better player and win a lot of pots by using these poker tips!
